Xiaomi has launched two variants of its smart TV boxes in China. Named Mi Box 4 and Mi Box 4c, the two smart TV boxes are priced at CNY 349 (approx Rs 3,490) and CNY 249 (approx Rs 2,490) respectively. The devices will start shipping from 1 February in China.
The Xiaomi Mi Box 4 has a square-shaped design with a thickness of 16 mm and it weighs 145 grams. It comes with a 64-bit quad-core CPU. The device has 8 GB of internal storage and 2 GB RAM. It comes with a custom MIUI based interface. The Mi Box 4 includes AV interface port, HDMI port and USB port for connectivity and supports 4K HDR Ultra HD quality. It also comes with a support for Dolby and DTS audio output.
The other TV box — the Mi Box 4c — launched by the Chinese company comes with the same hardware specs but has 1 GB RAM and 4 GB of internal storage. The GPU on both the variants is unidentified.
The TV boxes launched by Xiaomi bring artificial intelligence that monitors the users’s watching behaviour and recommends content based on it. The AI feature in the TV boxes also takes recommendations from movie reviews and commentaries and suggests content.
These fourth-generation TV boxes are the successors of the Mi Box 3s and Mi Box 3c launched in 2016. The availability of the devices in other market has not been confirmed yet.
