WHATSAPP INTRODUCES ‘FAST PLAYBACK’ FEATURE FOR VOICE MESSAGES

WhatsApp has rolled out an update to its voice messaging feature called Fast Playback. The feature adds the option to listen to voice notes at variable speeds – 1x, 1.5x, and even 2x speed. WhatsApp has enabled this feature on Android, iOS-based devices, and WhatsApp Web/Desktop.

Additionally, WhatsApp is reportedly also working on allowing users to edit a voice message within the app.

Presently, WhatsApp allows only two options for voice notes; you can either record and send them or bin them altogether. You can also only listen to your voice note once you have already sent it.

However, WhatsApp reportedly developing a feature to enable users to review voice messages before sending them. WABetaInfo has spotted this in a recent beta.

A stop button will reportedly be introduced on WhatsApp to allow users to listen to their voice messages before sending them across. Currently, they see a cancel button that completely deletes a voice message. Introducing a stop button won’t delete the voice message when tapped. Instead, it will help users to review it before sending it. Every time users press the stop button, they’ll get a separate button to play the voice message similar to when they shared it.

Users can use this option to review their messages or prevent them from sending if the content lacks something or is wrongly curated. This way, they can continue recording their messages or can even start all over again. To re-record the message, users can press the delete button and start re-recording it. On the contrary, while reviewing, if they feel the message is right, they can click on the send button to share it with the recipient/s.
