TINDER COLLABORATES WITH SPOTIFY TO TEST SENDING SONG CLIPS TO MATCHES

Dating application Tinder is working on a feature that makes it easy for its users to share music via streaming service Spotify, right inside their conversations on the app.

The feature is being tested in a number of markets around the world and Spotify appears to be the only streaming service involved in the test, as of now. According to a report by TechCrunch, the feature is being currently tested only on iOS and web platforms and not on Android.

The clips one can send can only be 30 seconds long, but that’s all you may need to convey your feelings to a match, believes Tinder.

As per screenshots published by MSPowerUser, users will soon be able find a green music note icon at the bottom of their Tinder chats. Clicking on it will let you search for a song, with relevant results displayed at the bottom of the chat.

Tinder’s major rival Bumble has offered integration with Spotify’s streaming music service since 2016.

“Users love connecting over shared tastes in music. In fact, users who update their ‘Anthem’ are most likely to start a conversation via Feed,” a Tinder spokesperson was quoted as saying by TechCrunch.

But Spotify isn’t available in India, so why is this information relevant? Well, as per a report from earlier today, the music streaming giant could finally make its official entry into India by the end of this month.

The news comes right after the announcement that Spotify and T-Series have agreed upon a deal wherein Spotify customers will be able to access T-Series’ entire catalogue of Indian music, including regional, Bollywood and songs.

Which suggests that Tinder users in India may be able to share music clips from Spotify soon.
