Following the trend set by tech giants like Google and Samsung adding AI features in their latest flagships, OnePlus is also gearing up to introduce AI-powered features to its smartphones, with the latest ColorOS update in China making strides in this direction.
While the first release of the OnePlus 12, the company’s most powerful phone to date did not showcase any AI capabilities, the ColorOS 14 version PHB110_14.0.0.403(CN01) update will change that narrative.
A recent post on X by Android enthusiast Mishaal Rehman revealed that a Reddit user found the ColorOS update intriguing. The update, which applies to both the recently launched OnePlus 12 and the year-old OnePlus 11, introduces several AI-powered features to enhance user experience.
Among the noteworthy additions is the AI Summariser, a tool designed to generate summaries by extracting relevant information such as places, times, and action items from phone calls.
Additionally, OnePlus has introduced the “AIGC Remover,” a functionality reminiscent of Google’s Magic Eraser, allowing users to eliminate unwanted objects or people from images.
The update includes an “Article Summarizer” feature, enabling users to obtain quick summaries of articles at the touch of a button.
Another notable addition is ‘Breeno Touch,’ a functionality that recognizes onscreen content and provides swift access to relevant services.
Notably, these AI-powered functionalities are currently limited to the Chinese variants of the OnePlus 11 and OnePlus 12.
The global availability of these features for the phones remains to be determined, leaving enthusiasts worldwide eagerly awaiting updates from OnePlus regarding expanding these advanced capabilities to a broader audience.
As the smartphone industry continues its relentless pursuit of innovation, integrating artificial intelligence into daily device functionalities emerges as a prominent trend.
