Latest update adds double-tap and raise-to-wake on Pixel smartphones

When Google said that the new Pixel smartphones are the best Android smartphones on the market, they weren’t kidding. They are indeed great. Both the Pixel and Pixel XL have received positive reviews. However, if we compare them to the Nexus predecessors, they are missing on some features.

According to reports, a new update for the Pixel smartphones is already rolling out, well atleast in Canada. It is said to bring in a familiar notification feature that you might like. With the new update, Pixel and Pixel XL owners will get double-tap and raise-to-wake features. This means that simply tapping on on the display or picking up smartphone lights up the display to show your notifications.

Google is trying its best to make the Pixel stand out. If you remember the raise-to-wake feature has been around on older Nexus devices and just recently it was added on iOS 10. The double tap to wake feature is a great addition in my opinion as one doesn’t have to unlock it everytime.

Google hasn’t confirmed a date or a time period for the update rollout, but if you do own any of the Pixel devices, then keep checking under the software update section under settings.

An over the air zip file is already available online but for that you will have put in some extra effort to make sure that the update works on the device.
