Intel unveils AI PC programme for developers, to introduce over 300 AI features in 2024

Intel has made a significant announcement, introducing two fresh initiatives within its AI PC Acceleration Program. These initiatives aim to propel the advancement and integration of novel AI technologies by software developers, independent software vendors (ISVs), and independent hardware vendors (IHVs).

Intel has projected that these endeavors will optimize and enhance AI capabilities across over 100 million Intel Core Ultra-powered PCs by the end of 2025.

This program aims to foster a seamless developer experience facilitated through software, developer tools, and hardware equipped with Intel Core Ultra processors.

Intel has forged partnerships with over 150 hardware vendors globally and aims to introduce more than 300 AI-accelerated features in 2024 across a spectrum of over 230 designs originating from 12 prominent original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

Matt King, the Senior Director of Client Hardware Ecosystem at Intel, expressed his optimism about this expansion, emphasizing the integration of 150 hardware vendors into the AI PC Accelerator Program. He said, “We’re thrilled to extend our pioneering hardware and software solutions to engage our extensive, open ecosystem of developers.”

Carla Rodriguez, Vice President and General Manager of Client Software Ecosystem Enabling at Intel, underscored the significance of this expansion, highlighting the program’s evolution beyond large ISVs to embrace negligible and medium-sized players and aspiring developers. She stated, “With the addition of the AI PC Developer Program, we’re broadening our horizons to engage a wider spectrum of developers.”

The newly updated developer resource pages have been designated a centralized hub, offering developers access to AI PC and client-centric toolkits, documentation, and training materials.

These consolidated resources are meticulously designed to empower developers to harness Intel Core Ultra processor technologies efficiently, optimizing the performance of AI and machine learning (ML) applications and expediting the development of innovative use cases.

Enthusiastic developers keen on joining the AI PC Acceleration Program can register free of charge through the Intel AI PC development portal. Upon acceptance, developers will unlock access to many AI and machine learning tools and resources, including the Intel OpenVINO toolkit.

Furthermore, Intel provides comprehensive courses and certifications to help you navigate the latest technologies and innovations. The company also extends technical support to aid hardware vendors in optimizing and testing their latest technologies.

Last year, Intel rolled out its Core Ultra processors, boasting a built-in AI accelerator (NPU). This NPU can seamlessly handle sustained AI workloads while maintaining low power consumption, thereby enhancing power efficiency and augmenting notebook battery life.

Simultaneously, the GPU (Intel Arc) specializes in managing data-intensive AI computations, while the CPU excels in processing sequential data, complex branching, or low-latency inference tasks.

Intel has partnered with major brands such as Adobe, Blackmagic Design, and several prominent game developers to revamp and fine-tune their offerings, ensuring they fully capitalize on the latest Intel Core Ultra processor-powered PCs.
