Indian entrepreneur designs nation’s first cost-effective and ‘indigenously built hovercraft

A pioneering female entrepreneur in Coimbatore claims to have achieved a significant milestone by designing India’s first indigenous hovercraft capable of traversing land and water.

Supritha Chandrasekar, the Managing Director of Eurotech Pivot Solutions Private Limited, asserted that the trial run of the hovercraft boat was successfully conducted on Coimbatore Sulur Lake, as per a report by news agency ANI.

This innovative hovercraft is characterized as an amphibious vehicle, demonstrating its ability to operate seamlessly across various terrains.

Chandrasekar emphasized that the hovercraft was developed under the ‘Made in India’ initiative, presenting a cost-effective solution compared to international alternatives.

She highlighted the product’s versatility, stating that it has potential applications for the Indian Navy, Air Force, Army, NDRF rescue operations, and various national services.

The hovercraft boasts an impressive speed capability, reaching 100 km/h on road surfaces and 80 km/h on water.

Chandrasekar further revealed that the vehicle has a payload capacity of one tonne, with plans to construct a giant 16-meter-long hovercraft accommodating 24 seats.

This technological achievement marks a noteworthy contribution to India’s innovation landscape and has the potential to address diverse operational needs across different sectors, ranging from defense to emergency response.

The successful trial run in Coimbatore signifies a significant step forward in developing indigenous hovercraft technology for the nation.
