A notable new change introduces a “Preview of Perspectives” from firsthand sources such as social media, Reddit, and other web forums, effectively linking search queries with real online conversations around similar topics.
Google says the update aims to address the growing trend of users seeking advice from others while searching online. This will feel familiar to anyone who has added “Reddit” to the end of a Google search to find real human experiences instead of SEO-optimized web results.
This new feature will be part of Google’s AI-powered search tools, as the company looks to encourage more users to move beyond traditional web results. Google also notes that it will add additional context to these AI responses and links, such as creator accounts and community names, making conversations easier to identify. These sources will be showcased as “expert advice” in AI-powered search results and may even direct users to specialized forums and subreddits they may want to explore.
In addition to relevant text in AI responses, Google is also adding more links to useful websites alongside these results, giving users deeper insight into their queries. Another update will introduce suggestions for related topics at the end of AI responses, encouraging users to explore subjects further.
Beyond this, Google is also making certain sources easier to find with a new feature that highlights links from news subscriptions in AI Mode and AI Overviews, at least for publishers that support subscription-based linking.
