A redesigned Facebook Messenger, with a new interface, is finally available for download and update on both Android and iOS. It was announced at Facebook’s F8 developer conference in May 2018.
It was introduced with the idea of making the chat feature simpler and to put messages at the front and center once again.
According to a report by The Verge, some of the most significant features of the redesign include consolidating its nine tabs into just three. Facebook is now reducing the face of Messenger with just a Chat tab, People tab, and a Discover tab.
The Chat tab will have all your one on one and group conversations at one place, with the camera icon now sitting on the top of the tab.
Through the People tab, you can find friends, catch up on people’s Stories, and see everyone who is active at the moment. Then you have the Discover tab, where you can connect with businesses to get the latest deals, play Instant Games, book your next vacation, follow the new, among other things.
There has also been an introduction of more whitespace to the interface and hidden buttons for the game, bots and reminder functionalities on the chatbox.
It might take a little time for the update to be available for everyone, the messenger team told publication.
