The Bhim app has been updated to version 1.1. This is just the first of many updates, promised to add more features and squash bugs. Regular users are advised to turn on the auto update feature of Bhim in the Play store. The update note simply says “bug fixes” without getting into the details.
There were a few bugs in the original version. Places where the application would freeze up include binding with the phone on startup, sending the registration SMS for pairing the phone number with the application, and making a transaction. These process have become easier now, although transactions may fail at times. The Bhim app is a UPI based payment service for a number of banks, so the experience for each bank is different.
Users are reporting that SBI accounts can now be synced. The issue with ICICI bank on verifying the Bhim payment address is fixed now. Functionality for Yes bank and Bank of India is expected to land in a future update. Some users are getting messages from unknown parties, requesting payments.
Unsolicited payment requests can be declined, and the Bhim team is working on a future update that will allow users to report payment request spam scams.
The application is expected to land on the App Store soon, for iOS users. Until then, iOS users can avail most of the same functionality by using the NUUP service, by just dialing *99# on their phones, a service available on Windows Mobile and Smartphones as well. Android users who have not yet downloaded the application can do so on the Play Store.
