Display and Design: The MacBook Air M5 continues Apple’s tradition of elegant portability, now lighter and thinner than ever. Weighing just 1.23 kilograms and measuring under 1.15 centimetres in thickness. It comes in two portable sizes — a 13-inch model and a 15-inch model. The device is built with over 50 per cent recycled materials, including a recycled aluminium enclosure that’s both durable and environmentally conscious.
M5 Chip: At the heart of the MacBook Air M5 lies Apple’s next-generation M5 chip, which introduces a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU. Each GPU core includes a dedicated Neural Accelerator, which promises to boost the laptop’s on-device AI performance. This makes it capable of powering through demanding workflows like Microsoft 365 Copilot, Adobe Creative Cloud, and other resource-intensive tools with ease.
Battery: Apple claims that MacBook Air M5 offers up to 18 hours of use on a single charge. The company has also included fast-charging capability, and claims that it can reach 50 per cent charge in just 30 minutes.
MacBook Pro M5, M5 Pro and M5 Max: Top specs
Design and durability: Apple’s latest MacBook Pro lineup comes in two sizes: 14.2-inch and 16.2-inch.
The 14-inch version is available with the M5, M5 Pro, or M5 Max chips. The 16-inch MacBook Pro, meanwhile, is offered exclusively with the M5 Pro or M5 Max. Both sizes feature the same sleek, robust design and come in two stunning finishes, including the eye-catching Space Black option that gives the laptop a distinctly premium look.
Display and Connectivity: The Liquid Retina XDR display continues to set the standard for laptop screens, offering 1,600 nits of peak HDR brightness and an impressive 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. On the connectivity front, Apple has equipped every MacBook Pro M5 with three Thunderbolt 4 or 5 ports, an HDMI port, MagSafe 3 charging, an SDXC card slot, and a headphone jack.
Camera: On the front, a 12MP Centre Stage camera ensures you’re always framed perfectly during video calls, while Desk View lets you share your workspace with ease.
Chipset: Under the hood, the M5 chip family powers the show with incredible processing efficiency and blazing AI performance. Each chip, M5, M5 Pro, and M5 Max, features faster unified memory and SSD storage that’s twice as fast as before. With advanced Neural Accelerators, users can run complex AI tasks and creative workloads at record-breaking speeds.
The base M5 chip brings next-generation power and on-device AI capabilities for students, professionals, and creators, offering up to 6x faster performance than M1. The M5 Pro is aimed at engineers, developers, and scientists managing intensive workflows and can be configured in both 14-inch and 16-inch models, delivering up to 7.8x faster performance than the M1 Pro. At the top of the range, the M5 Max is Apple’s most powerful laptop chip yet, providing up to 8x faster performance than the M1 Max.
Together, the M5 series transforms the MacBook Pro into Apple’s most advanced pro notebook lineup ever, combining power, portability, and intelligence for a new era of creative and professional computing.
