Amazon has unveiled a fresh batch of Kindles, marking a significant upgrade to its popular e-reader lineup. Stealing the spotlight is the new Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition, Amazon’s first-ever device featuring a color e-ink display.
The company also rolled out an enhanced Kindle Scribe, a new Paperwhite, and a refreshed entry-level Kindle. With AI-powered features, faster page turns, and waterproof designs, this release offers something for every kind of reader. However, no word has been given on when these devices will hit the Indian market.
New Kindle Colorsoft
The Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition, priced at $279.99, aims to provide a premium reading experience. Its color display opens up possibilities for illustrated books, comics, and magazines, especially for people who love visuals with their reading—think manga and comic books. This waterproof e-reader promises up to eight weeks of battery life and supports wireless charging for added convenience. Amazon plans to start shipping this model on October 30.
Kindle Scribe 2024
The second-generation Kindle Scribe introduces a 10.2-inch display with a crisp 300ppi resolution. It includes new AI-driven tools, such as summarising text into bullet points and converting handwritten notes into typed text, making it useful for students and professionals.
The Active Canvas feature ensures that book notes remain intact, even if fonts or layouts are adjusted. The Scribe comes bundled with Amazon’s Premium Pen stylus, which offers a more natural writing feel. This model is priced at $399.99.
Kindle Paperwhite
The new Kindle Paperwhite features several improvements, including a 7-inch e-ink display enhanced with an oxide thin-film transistor, which promises better clarity and contrast. Amazon says page turns are now 25 percent faster, improving the reading experience.
Like previous models, it is fully waterproof, appealing to readers who enjoy their e-books outdoors or by the pool. The standard model, offering 16GB of storage, starts at $159.99, while the Signature Edition with 32GB and wireless charging is priced at $199.99
New entry-level Kindle
Amazon also introduced an updated entry-level Kindle that sticks to the basics but improves speed with faster page turns. This budget-friendly device now comes with 16GB of storage and is priced at $109.99. While the changes are modest, it remains an excellent choice for casual readers looking for an affordable e-reader.
